Pinehurst became a municipality in 1980 and counted 17,581 people in 2020. Olmsted gave it curving lanes and a picturesque central green, and the landmark designation came in 1996. The men's U.S. Open has been played here four times since 1999, most recently in 2024, and returns in 2029. Golf brings the visitors; the homes are what we work on, from older cottages in the village center to houses along the curving lanes and newer homes farther out.
Before any work in the historic district
- We confirm whether your house is inside the historic district.
- If it is, we check with the Village Planner, because the Historic Preservation Commission's review criteria include roof shapes, forms and materials.
- If a review is needed, we assemble the material samples, photos and drawings it asks for.
- Materials are ordered only after the approval is in hand.
Outside the historic district, some neighborhoods keep their own HOA rules on shingle style and color. We ask for those before we price, not after.
Pinehurst roofs face the same weather as the rest of the Sandhills: summer storms, hail, and tall pines that drop limbs and needles. After a storm we inspect the full roof, photograph it and write up a repair or replacement price. If the roof is part of a home sale, our roof inspection report is written so an agent or a buyer can follow it.

What Pinehurst homeowners ask us
Do I need approval to replace my roof in Pinehurst?
If your home is in the historic district, the Historic Preservation Commission's criteria include roof shapes, forms and materials, so we check with the Village Planner first. Outside the district, your HOA may have its own rules.
Can I switch from shingles to metal?
Possibly, but in the historic district a change of material is exactly what the review covers. We check before you commit.
Will you handle the paperwork?
We gather photos, samples and specifications for any review and work with you on submitting them.
Do you work on newer homes in Pinehurst?
Yes, including homes with HOA style rules.
How long does an approval take?
That depends on the village's schedule. We plan the roof work around it rather than guessing.
How far are you from Pinehurst?
About 35 miles west of Fayetteville, inside our regular area.
